Portland, ME – Tragedy has stricken the Portland Pirates family as former goaltender Nathan Marsters was killed in an auto accident Monday night in West Lincoln, Ontario.

According to Niagara Regional Police, Marsters was traveling on Regional Road 20 – approximately 25 miles east of Hamilton – eastbound when his vehicle, Chevy Silverado, struck a deer around 9:10pm Monday night.

Marsters, 29, a resident of nearby Smithville sustained fatal injuries when the deer came through his windshield striking him. The vehicle came to rest in a field where a passerby attempted to assist him, but was pronounced dead on the scene by police.
